Welcome to the Agricultural Policy Research Center (APRC).

The Agricultural Policy Research Center (APRC) is a pioneering initiative established under the auspices of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) in Uganda. With a strong commitment to advancing agricultural research and policy analysis, APRC aims to provide data-driven solutions that address the pressing challenges facing Uganda’s agricultural and food systems.

Our Approach

The APRC employs a comprehensive methodology that aligns with Uganda’s National Development Strategies, agricultural sector priorities, the Post Malabo Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our approach includes:

Collaborative Partnerships
We partner with government ministries, farmer unions, academic institutions, development partners, civil society, individual analysts, and decision-makers to ensure a multi-faceted approach to research and policy development.
Integrated Research and Outreach
By combining research, outreach, capacity building, and institutional strengthening, we support the development and implementation of effective agricultural policies.
Policy Analysis and Implementation
We focus on practical policy analysis, providing technical support to actualize, monitor, evaluate, and learn from Uganda’s agricultural transformation strategies
Disaggregated Research
Our research examines sub-national, community, household, and gender-level impacts, focusing on the dynamics of poverty, gender, and agriculture
Regional Context Consideration
We analyze how regional agricultural and food security challenges influence Uganda’s policy decisions and how Uganda’s policies affect the broader regional context.
